I attended a Schneiders #Craftmeatery party on June 14th, 2018 at Chef Anthony Rose’s Big Crow restaurant (176 Dupont St., Toronto). Chef Rose created an extensive menu utilizing Schneiders products to showcase the versatility, taste, and quality of the products. The event also highlighted the recent changes to the brand.

What’s new with Schneiders?

Schneiders, an iconic Canadian brand that started in 1890 producing quality meats and food products, is resetting their entire product line up. They are going back to their original recipes and “old world” methods like traditional hardwood smoking.  Their products also have a new package design with eye-catching food photography alongside their recently redesigned “Dutch Girl” logo.

I grew up eating Schneiders from their wieners, sausages, deli meats and bacon, and sure you have as well. I am happy to hear that their recipes are true to their origin.

The collaboration!

Chef Anthony Rose of Big Crow

Anthony Rose is the king of elevating comfort food and he did just that at the Schneiders #Craftmeatery party. Big Crow was the perfect setting for the event with a warm and hip vibe in his cabin-like restaurant. Anthony treated guests with an inventive menu showcasing Schneiders classic products.

The Big Crow + Schneiders menu included:

  • Carved Ham with Cheese Grits and Heirloom Tomato Relish
  • Grilled Bologna with Roasted Chili and Fried Garlic
  • Peameal Bacon with Zucchini Kebab with Buttermilk Dressing
  • Pigs in a Blanket with Honey Mustard and Everything Bagel Spices
  • Spicy Italian Sausage Taquitos with Charred Tomatillo Salsa
  • Bacon Banh Mi Garlic Bread

The salty ham really shined in the cheese grit dish in terms of taste and texture, making it my favourite dish of the evening.

Guests were also treated with a charcuterie board of Schneiders products including their Summer Sausage, Polish Sausage, Hungarian Salami and European Pepperettes. Our food was paired nicely with Beau’s beers including Beau’s Hopfenlager with the apricot and maple glazed roasted kielbasa.

I ended the party with a full belly, memorable conversations, and the coolest souvenir to commemorate the event- a customized charcuterie board. Thank you Schneiders!
