Address: Evergreen Brick Works 550 Bayview Avenue, Toronto, ON
When I attended: June 23rd, 2016, 7pm to 11pm
Aside from food blogging, my profession is in the healthcare industry, so I was excited to be invited to a culinary event that supported the work of Providence Healthcare.
About Providence Healthcare:
“Since 1987, Providence Healthcare Foundation has been working with our generous donors and the community-at-large to raise essential funds for Providence Healthcare — a leader in providing rehabilitation, palliative care, long-term care and community programs in Toronto.” (Source: www.providence.on.ca/)
Surprisingly, it was my first time going to Evergreen Brick Works and I was impressed by the beautiful space. The industrial building had a large outdoor patio, beautiful graffiti artwork on the walls, and lights hanging on the ceiling. It would make the perfect spot for a wedding reception!
Having been to many charity and food festivals, there were many things that made this event stand out. The event ran until 11:00 pm and had outstanding live entertainment. There was a band was singing old school R & B which is totally my jam, and a DJ came to turn the event to a fun dance party later in the evening.
They had a great selection of alcoholic beverages with a dedicated bar serving a large selection of wines. There were also booths selling beer, wine, cocktails with hard liquor. They also had a beauty bar where attendees could get their hair and make up done. I did not discover the beauty bar until closer to the end of the evening, but made time for a beautiful updo.
There were 30 gourmet food and beverage stations serving delicious eats presented beautifully (full list of vendors on the Providence website). Good thing I arrived right when the event started to taste all the dishes before the line ups started. I even had a chance to meet Celebrity Chef Massimo Capra to chat about his upcoming restaurant opening, and tips in the kitchen.
Some stand out dishes I had during the #cuisineandcuvee event:
- Taverna Mercatto-Grilled cheese sandwich
- Pizza Libretto-Deep fried gnocchi
- Jawny Bakers– Tender ribs
- Casa Manila-Chicken sisig
- Holy Canolli Shells and Cream-Canolli
As part of the fundraiser, they had a silent auction and also sold raffle tickets with top notch prizes such as a backyard oasis package.
I also had amazing company to spend the evening with and every moment was a blast. I was excited that the Mary’s Happy Belly team was together.
Thank you so much to Providence Healthcare for the invitation. It was a top notch event!
