Turkey roast made easy!
Thanksgiving and turkey go together and if you are hoping to impress your guests with turkey, but want an alternative to roasting the whole thing, I’ve got the perfect recipe for you!
I love simplicity and time-saving options, and luckily Butterball has a line of roasts that are cooked from frozen. For this recipe, I used ‘Butterball Boneless Turkey Breast’ – it did not need defrosting, brining, or marinating in advance. All I did was season it, pop the roast in the oven for about 4.5 hours, and whip up an incredibly tasty glaze of dark soy sauce and honey to apply during the cooking process. Right before serving, I drizzled some honey on the roast to give that extra beautiful glisten.
Thanksgiving party for all sizes
Whether you are having a feast for 20, 5, or 1, Butterball’s got you covered with a variety of turkey products to fit any gathering. Their turkeys are high-quality, juicy, tender and are raised on Canadian farms.
Butterball Roast options:
I have used the Boneless Turkey Breast for this recipe but feel free to substitute with the other roasts mentioned above. I purchased the turkey breast at my local Loblaws, but it is available at most retailers in Canada (refer to the product locator here).
Adding in my touch
For the flavour inspiration, I wanted a recipe that incorporated Chinese flavours that I grew up with and would complement the turkey. The dark soy sauce has a thick velvety texture, full-bodied flavour and a beautiful caramel colour. I mixed in honey for a perfect match that goes well with turkey and adds the right amount of sweetness.
This ‘Dark Soy and Honey Glazed Turkey Roast’ pairs well with all your Thanksgiving fixings. I served my roast with sautéed kale and roasted butternut squash with pine nuts.
Enjoy the incredibly delicious roast!

At the third hour, remove roast and brush with honey, followed by dark soy sauce. Return to oven.
-
At three-and-a-half hours, turn heat to 385 °F (165°C) and cook until the internal temperature hits 165°F (74°C).
