Kinton Ramen is an OG when it comes to ramen in Toronto. This is the 5th location in Toronto, and it continues to live up to its name – sleek décor, vibrant atmosphere, friendly staff and BIG bowls of piping hot, fresh, flavourful ramen!
The menu concept is simple. You choose your broth (chicken or pork), flavour, noodle (thick or think), and additional toppings. There are a number of side dishes and beverages you can add to accompany your meal.
My dining partner and I chose the Tako Wasabi, Spicy Karaage (YUM) and 2 black mini Sapporo’s to wash it all down 🙂
Tako Wasabi – Marinated Octopus w/ Wasabi Stem
A FAVOURITE of mine – the wasabi flavour is strong but not overpowering
Hot Karaage – Spicy Fried Chicken
The chicken tasted pan fried (rather than deep fried) and was coated in a sweet & spicy hot sauce – very tasty and saucy!
For our mains, we ordered:
Pork Broth w/ Spicy Garlic, Thick Noodle with Pork, Seasoned Egg and Sweet Corn
Chicken Broth w/ Spicy Jalapeño, Thin Noodle with Pork, Seasoned Egg and Seasoned Vegetables
Each bowl of ramen was expertly plated with a piece of pork shoulder, pork belly and a light sprinkling of minced pork meat. The pork shoulder had a light sear and was perfectly tender. The chicken broth ramen had a subtle heat from the Jalapeño peppers, while the pork ramen was very flavourful and HEAVY on the garlic – just the way I like it!
Kinton continues to be a ramen staple in Toronto. It remains consistent in delivering fast, affordable and delicious food and that is something we ALL can appreciate! No surprises also means NO disappointment – you will leave feeling all kinds of happy and satisfied 🙂 The portions are generous and I love how fun the atmosphere is! I mean, where else can you go and have the entire staff excitedly greet (shout) at you in a foreign language?! The location is connected to the original Kinka Izakaya on Church St. Check it out, if you haven’t already!!!
