I had a chance to check out the new store before the official Grand Opening on Feb. 27th, 2106 and take home the cheesecakes to try. The shop is located at the new “Shops on Yonge” on Yonge St., just north of Steeles Ave., a wicked location for the surbanites. The shop is tiny with a counter displaying their cheesecakes and a red wall with small tiles of paintings (rather ugly paintings in my eyes). The shop does not have any seats at the moment, but the owners do plan on serving coffee soon.
The owner Hao mentioned that Love Me Sweet was supposed to open their cheesecake shop before Uncle Tetsu’s but their licencing was delayed. This means they will inevitably be compared to Uncle Tetsu’s.
Love me Sweet has two flavours, original and chocolate for $10 each. The cheesecake was light, creamy, and has a more prominent cheese flavour than Uncle Tetsu’s. The cheesecakes melted in my mouth with every bite and was sooo satisfying!
Their cheesecakes normally have their logo stamped on it, but their stamp machine happened to be broken during my visit.
Overall:
As a first impression, I like Love Me Sweet’s cheesecake equally as much as Uncle Tetsu’s. However, Love me Sweet doesn’t have the crazy lineups (at least right now), no quantity limit per person and a great location, which are bonus points for this uptown cheesecake shop.
