Toronto Taste 2017 presented by Daniels Corporation happened on June 4th, 2017 at Corus Quay. The successful event raised an incredible $925, 000 for Second Harvest.
Second Harvest which is the largest food rescue charity in Canada rescues surplus, fresh food that would otherwise go to waste, and delivers that food to more than 225 social service agencies in Toronto, feeding people experiencing hunger (Source: Second Harvest).
This was my first time attending Toronto Taste and I was thoroughly impressed! There are many culinary charity events in Toronto, but this one was definitely THE one to be at with big name chefs in attendance, generous donors, and phenomenal food. The charity event was one to beat with over 60 restaurant and beverage providers, and a stunning location at the waterfront (Lakeside, Corus Quay).
There was lots going on at the event including live entertainment, chef battles, and a silent and live auction. I bought a few raffle tickets during the evening to show my support as well. Chef Bob Blumer who is a Second Harvest Ambassador and long-time supporter, reached his goal of raising $165,000 towards the purchase of a truck for Second Harvest when an anonymous donor came forward to top up his fundraising. That is incredible!
